    YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

    Sometimes first aid isn’t a bandage, or CPR or calling 911. Sometimes, first aid is YOU!
    A young person you know could be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem.

    Learn an action plan to help.

    Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach those who regularly have contact with young people ages 12-18, parents, family members, teachers, coaches, school staff, social workers, faith leaders and other caring citizens, how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance us, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/AHD), and eating disorders.
